Dear Karen, I love the quiet questions you pose and your intention to "remain in aliveness" with yourself. I also love the concept of sustainability as it applies to a human being. In Systems Theory, each individual person is a system unto itself (comprised of different domains-- emotional, intellectual, cognitive, spiritual, creative/productive), and these systems interact with and become incorporated into larger systems (family systems, social circles, the workplace, our cities/towns, and so on, and so on. Sustainability on the individual level would lead to greater sustainability within larger systems. I think kids should be prompted to answer your questions, so that by the time they grow up, this would be their habit. And I like how you describe structure as open architecture, not something to fight against, but something to lean on.Thanks for your always insightful and interesting newsletters! xo, Anne

This post opened my mind in a lovely, self- and other-affirming way. Thank you; I'll be reading it more than once. (Beautiful, beautiful piece, too.)
